A robot developed specifically for use at the facility with Brigham Young University

Salt Lake City, Utah – [DATE TBA], 2021 – Novva Data Centers, a state-of-the-art data center company providing purpose-built data center facilities, has partnered with Brigham Young University to unveil WIRE, its futuristic product, and service offering of robot dog facility monitoring. Inspired by the work of Boston Dynamics, the BYU team took the technology a step further and customized the robot dogs to oversee the unique security and operations monitoring needs of Novva Data Center.

WIRE (Wes’ Industrious Robot Employee) will fulfill multiple mission-critical roles at Novva’s new Utah Campus, including:

  • Ensuring proper temperature for data storage
  • Audibly greeting patrons of the data center
  • Confirming proper building occupant security clearance via facial scanning and recognition
  • Autonomously monitoring facility equipment to ensure peak efficiency
  • Carrying out tasks and missions programmed by the staff

WIRE is just one of the futuristic technologies that Novva will employ, in addition to raised floor cooling and rooftop drone security for the exterior. An effective crossroad between function and the “wow” factor, WIRE illustrates an exciting future that data centers can look forward to.

“At Novva, our goal is to be the most future-focused new data center campus in the world”, CEO Wes Swenson explains. “WIRE exemplifies innovation and the future while addressing crucial data center needs and providing a one-of-a-kind experience for patrons. We are very thankful to the students at BYU for helping us with this project and creating a truly unique product for us to feature at our facility.”

“We’re really excited about this project,” adds BYU engineering student James Green. “We’ve created a product that will genuinely save a lot of time for everyone at Novva so they can focus on more strategic initiatives. WIRE represents the future of data center environments.”

Novva will host a ribbon-cutting ceremony to unveil its flagship data center facility in Utah on September 21st from 5-8 pm. To join us for an evening of festivities and tours of Utah’s largest data center campus, you can register for the free event here.
